About Russell's Reserve 1998 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Back in 1998, Jimmy Russell and his son Eddie — now joint master distiller of Wild Turkey — decided to lay a select few barrels (23 to be exact) down to rest, intending to save them for a special occasion. At that point, Jimmy had spent 45 years at the distillery, and it was presumed he would retire later that year. Fate had other plans in store, however, and today Jimmy Russell remains Wild Turkey’s joint master distiller with 61 years of experience under his belt.In 2014, Eddie was checking on these special barrels when he noticed they were evaporating much quicker than anticipated. He shared some samples with his father, and the duo decided not to wait: they’d found something spectacular and wanted to share it with the world immediately.
“Typically, a bourbon this old picks up a lot of flavor from the barrel and can taste quite woody and dry. We like to retain the caramel, vanilla and fruity notes in our whiskies and this particular liquid seemed to reach a sweet spot around the 15 year mark,” says Eddie. “It was important for us to stop the aging before those less desirable flavors took over the overall profile of the bourbon. I guess I am going to have to find another bourbon to celebrate Jimmy’s retirement… if that ever happens.”

Following the end of the American Civil War, the Ripy Brothers returned to their native state of Kentucky and, together, opened a distillery on the slopes of a hill in Lawrenceburg. The distillery operated continuously for nearly fifty years until the 18th Amendment, which prohibited the sale of alcohol in the United States, was ratified. Following the end of Prohibition, the Ripy Brothers Distillery was reopened, and a distillery executive named Thomas McCarthy took samples of maturing whiskey from the distillery on a turkey-hunting trip with a group of friends. The following year, his friends asked him to bring "some of that wild turkey whiskey" on their next hunting trip, and the distillery was renamed Wild Turkey. Since 1954, Wild Turkey Distillery has been operating under the tutelage of Master Distiller Jimmy Russell. "I've never been drunk," says Russell, who is a genuine bourbon aristocrat and a living legend in the business, "but I love my work. People tell me, "I hate to get up and go to work," he says. "I go seven days a week. You know, on Saturdays and Sundays, I may go out there and sit around for an hour or so."About Bourbon

About Highland Park 1968 Orcadian Vintage Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Situated in the Orkney archipelago in Northern Scotland, Highland Park Distillery was founded in 1798 by Magnus Eunson. The name of the distillery is derived not from the region of Scotland known as The Highlands — the Orkney islands are not a part of The Highlands — but rather from the region known as High Park, where the distillery was founded.Today, over two centuries after its founding, Highland Park Distillery remains one of the few Scottish distilleries that continues to hand-turn, malt, and peat its own barley. “You have to be careful here on the malting floor,” says Eric Tait, Highland Park's Maltman. “You find it can get a wee bit slippery underneath. I have to turn the malt every eight hours to prevent the roots getting tangled and to get it all aerated properly. The airing also helps it to grow. The malt will be on the floor for seven days and I'm running five floors at the moment.”
After malting the barley, Highland Park Distillery smokes it using peat sourced from Hobbister Moor, a peat bog located approximately seven miles from the distillery. Hobbister Moor peat is sourced from floral heather bushes, which burn hotter and cleaner than the grassy peats of Islay. In addition, the peat sourced from Hobbister Moor has greater derivatives of carbohydrates and a lower concentration of lignin than peat from Islay, giving Highland Park's peat a unique chemical fingerprint. The peat sourced from Hobbister Moor is “absolutely fundamental” in understanding the flavor of Highland Park Whisky, says Russell Anderson, the distillery manager. Together with Orkney's unique environment (the temperate, moist climate of the archipelago results in an even maturation process), the peat gives Highland Park Whisky its traditional malty, coastal flavors tempered by just a subtle touch of smoke.
Highland Park 1968 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the second release in the esteemed Orcadian Vintage series. Crafted from just eight hogshead barrels which were previously used for maturing Oloroso Sherry, the whisky was bottled in 2009, allowing four decades of weather on the Orkney Islands to exert its influence over the whisky. With its aromatic, heather-infused peat flavor, Highland Park 1968 represents a unique combination of smoky and sweet that has not p reviously been seen from Highland Park.
Highland Park 1968 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky has a bright, clean aroma of straw and salty sea air, which leads to a fruit-forward palate filled with lemon tart, plums, honey, cloves and just a hint of oak. The finish is equally compelling, with accents of toasted marshmallows and coconuts, as well as refreshing mint.

About Mortlach 70 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Situated in the heart of the Speyside region of Scotland, Dufftown is known as the Whisky Capital of the World. The village, which produces more malt whisky than any other town in Scotland, is home to seven distilleries, the oldest of which is Mortlach Distillery.Mortlach Distillery was founded in 1823 by James Findlater, together with his friends Alexander Gordon and James Macintosh. In 1831, however, Findlater sold the distillery to John Robertson for the paltry sum of £270. In 1837, it was sold again to John and James Grant, who dismantled the distilling equipment and shuttered the doors to the distillery. For the next two decades, the building was used first as a brewery, and then, rather curiously, a church. In 1851, however, the distillery began producing whisky once more. Even at the time, it was an impressive distillery, according to the Wine & Spirits Trade Record. The distillery had two still-houses: “In one there are three old-fashioned stills, in the other there are three larger stills, installed in 1897.” The distillery also had “four gigantic malt floors, and the largest mash tun in the district."
In 1964, the distillery was largely rebuilt and today, houses a unique configuration of six stills. The stills — three wash stills and three spirit stills — are each different shapes and sizes (one still is nicknamed “Wee Witchie” because it is shaped like a witch's cap), and aren't paired together. This unusual configuration, together with the partial triple distillation method used at Mortlach Distillery, produces a whisky that is full-bodied and meaty.
Mortlach 70 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is part of Gordon & MacPhail’s “Generations” label, and was first put into the cask on October 15, 1938 by John Urquhart, the grandfather of Gordon & MacPhail Joint Managing Directors, David and Michael Urquhart. Matured in a Spanish oak, ex-bodega sherry hogshead cask, the whisky was bottled exactly 70 years later, yielding 54 full-size bottles at cask strength (46.1% ABV).
“This is a very special day for us, one we’ve literally been anticipating for generations. Our family has been in the whisky business for a long time, with each generation building and handing on a lifetime’s expertise to the next,” say David and Michael Urquhart.
Mortlach 70 has a delicate aroma of rosewood, black cherries, dates and licorice. The palate is fresh, with starburst notes marrying elegantly with sherried oak and peat smoke, and leads to a supple finish accented by big notes of peaches, saddle leather and candlewax.

About Bruichladdich Octomore 07.1 Scottish Barley Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Inspired by an entrepreneurial flair and a youthful enthusiasm, the Harvey brothers began construction of the Bruichladdich (pronounced brook-laddie or broo-lah-dee) Distillery in 1881. The brothers were descendants of a dynastic whisky family — their ancestors had already owned distilleries in Scotland for over a century. Today, Bruichladdich Distillery (Bruichladdich means "rocky shore" in ancient Gaelic) remains situated on the shores of Loch Indaal on the island of Islay, and continues to use much of the original equipment installed by the Harvey brothers.The modern Bruichladdich Distillery is known as the most experimental and adventurous of the Scottish distilleries, and the Bruichladdich Octomore Series represents a singularly unique expression in the world of Scotch whisky.
Bruichladdich Octomore 7.1 is the distillery’s final release under Master Distiller Jim McEwan’s tenure. The whisky takes its name from Octomore Farm, a farm situated high above the village of Port Charlotte, just two miles away from Bruichladdich Distillery (the farm provides all of the barley used to create the whisky). Harvested from mainland Scotland, the barley used in this release is then malted before being peated to an absurdly high 208 phenol parts per million, making it one of the peatiest whiskies in the world.
After the barley has been peated, it is mashed using water drawn from the Bruichladdich loch. The water is soft and devoid of minerality, which makes it ideal for mashing and fermenting the barley. Following fermentation, the wash is twice distilled through Bruichladdich's 130 year-old, 20-foot tall, diamond-shaped stills. The Victorian-era stills produce whisky that is notably floral and elegant. "We have a distillery," says Jim McEwan, the master distiller at Bruichladdich, "and we know how to use it."
Once the whisky has been distilled, it is matured for five years in American oak before being bottled at 119 proof without the use of chill filtration or artificial coloring. As a result, Bruichladdich Octomore 7.1 has a sandy color, with aromas of sea spray, caramel, lemon peel and tobacco. The palate is filled with bright notes of peach, citrus fruits and honey, and is complemented by heavier notes of chimney smoke and leather. The peat is evident on the finish, with bold flavors coming together for a long, memorable sensation.
“The feeling is of long summer nights turning cooler as autumn approaches. This dram will transport you to Islay, to watch the sun setting over the sea while breathing in the peat smoke hanging in the air,” says McEwan.

About Bowmore 38 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
After the barley has been malted and peated, it is mashed and fermented with pure water drawn from Laggan River. The water has spent two millennia percolating in the ancient rock formations and peatbogs of Islay, giving Bowmore Whiskey its distinctive, chewy body and supple mouthfeel. Then, the fermented barley is twice distilled through Bowmore's copper-pot stills before being left to mature in the distillery's seaside, underground maturation vaults.Bowmore 38 was distilled on January 14th, 1957, and was promptly moved to casks in the distillery’s famous number one vault. Carefully watched over for 38 long years, the whisky was bottled in the mid-1990s to preserve the 40.1% ABV. This legendary bottle is housed within a handmade oak case crafted by the master cabinet makers of Charles Kirkby & Sons in Sheffield, England.
Bowmore 38 has a complex aroma of passionfruit, shoe polish, pineapple rinds and fresh herbs, which leads to a palate accented by wine tannins, eucalyptus and mushrooms. The finish is exquisite, with light smoke, beeswax and dried figs coming together beautifully.

About Ledaig 18 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The whisky is made exclusively from Scottish barley that is dried directly over a peat flame. Once the grains have been dried, they are milled and mashed with water drawn from Mary's Well before being fermented for nearly four days in washbacks made of Oregon Pine. Following fermentation, the wash is distilled twice, first through one of Tobermory's copper-pot wash stills, and again through one of Tobermory's copper-pot spirit stills.After distillation, Ledaig Aged 18 Years Single Malt Scotch Whisky is matured in oak barrels for nearly two decades before being finished in Spanish sherry casks, a practice not typically associated with such heavily-peated whiskies. As a result, the whisky has a bold aroma of tobacco smoke, cooked bacon and sherry wine. About The Macallan 42 Year Old 1969 Duncan Taylor Rarest Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Situated on a ridge above the banks of the River Spey, the Easter Elchies House has been the spiritual home of The Macallan for over two centuries. In 1820, Alexander Reid began renting the home from Sir Lewis Grant of Grant. Reid was a farmer, and soon after he sowed the fields surrounding the home with barley, Reid established the first licensed distillery on the estate, which he named Macallan after an ancient church that had been destroyed by fire during the 15th century. In the winter — when there was little activity on the farm — Reid would ferment and distill his excess grains into whisky, which was often drunk straight from the still or sold to travelers passing through the town.Today, the Macallan Estate encompasses 370 acres, 95 of which are devoted to the production of The Macallan Estate's Minstrel barley (a single acre produces about 2.5 tons of barley each year, enough to yield 1,800 bottles of The Macallan). In addition, the distillery contracts with farmers to purchase barley that is low in nitrogen and high in starch, resulting in a rich and oily whisky.
After the barley is harvested in late August and early September, it is malted before being mashed in one of The Macallan's two mash tuns, a process that takes between four and eight hours. Then, the barley is fermented with a specially cultured yeast before being distilled twice through copper-pot stills. The copper comprising the stills acts as a catalyst, and enhances the formation of sweet esters while minimizing impurities such as sulphur. In addition, the curiously small stills — some of "the smallest stills within the Scotch whisky industry," according to production manager Alexander Tweedie — produce a whisky with a heavy, oily flavor.
Following distillation, The Macallan distillers remove the heads and tails of the whisky and collect approximately 16% of the spirit to fill into casks for maturation. This "cut," which is among the highest of any Scottish distillery, results in a more full-bodied and and rich whisky.
Bottled by Duncan Taylor (an independent, family-run bottler that has been named “Independent Bottler of the Year” by Whisky Magazine), Macallan 42 Year Old Rarest Single Malt Sc otch Whisky (Duncan Taylor Bottling) was originally distilled on September 10th, 1969, and subsequently bottled on January 24th, 2012 from Cask 6860. The Glenlivet Pullman Water Level Route Single Cask, Single Malt Scotch Whisky was aged in a single American Oak Hogshead cask filled in 2001. Initial floral notes on the nose are balanced by sweet chocolate and peaches. The palate starts with honey and vanilla followed by sweet melon and barley. The finish is soft and balanced.

About The Glenlivet
During the early 19th century, illegal distilleries were commonplace throughout the Speyside region of Scotland. In 1823, however, Alexander Gordon pushed the Excise Act of 1823 through Parliament. The Excise Act allowed illegal distillers throughout Scotland to apply for and obtain licenses to legally distill spirits. In 1824, a businessman named George Smith applied for one of the first licenses in the Speyside region of Scotland and opened the doors to The Glenlivet Distillery. About Knob Creek
Following the end of the American Revolutionary War, Johannes Reginald Beam emigrated from Germany to the United States and eventually settled in Kentucky County. At the time, Kentucky County was still considered part of Virginia, and was overseen by a military governor named John J. Bowman. After settling in Kentucky, Beam began harvesting corn and set forth a family tradition by distilling the excess grains he harvested into whiskey. Since then, seven generations of the Beam family have been involved in whiskey production for the eponymous company (the company is actually named after James Beam, who rescued it following Prohibition).Knob Creek Bourbon was created by Beam’s grandson, Booker Noe, who after joining the family business in 1950 was promoted to Master Distiller just ten years later. Booker talked like a true Kentuckian an d was known for his contagious personality, and through his launch of the "Small Batch Bourbon Collection" — the collection includes Knob Creek as well as Basil Hayden’s, Booker’s, and Baker’s bourbons — he is often credited as the father of the small-batch bourbon movement.
Knob Creek Bourbon takes its name from the small water source, Knob Creek, that ran through President Abraham Lincoln’s childhood farm. About Espolòn Extra Añejo Tequila
The process begins when expert jimadors harvest the agave after they have been matured for nearly a decade. Then, the heart of the agave — the piña — is removed and cooked for approximately 22 hours (versus the industry average of 12 hours). Once the piña has been cooked, it is shredded and the remaining agave pulp is fermented using a proprietary strain of yeast. During fermentation, Oropeza plays rock music within the distillery to inspire the agave. Then, he twice distills the wash through copper pot stills for approximately 5.5 hours (versus the industry standard of 3.5 hours).After distillation, Espolòn Tequila Extra Añejo was laid to rest in new, American white oak barrels, where Master Distiller Cirilo Oropeza kept a watchful eye on his tequila (and waited patiently). After six long years — twice as long as the legal minimum for “extra añejo” — Oropeza bottled the tequila at 82 proof, giving it an exceptionally rich, smooth flavor.
Espolòn Tequila Extra Añejo has a nose that is both floral and smoky, with roasted agave notes mingling with baking spices, toasted almond, vanilla, ripened pineapple, maple and oak. The palate is buttery and viscous, and leads to a finish accented with cocoa nibs, rich fruits, cherry, tobacco and honey.
